The Capital Area REACH Program is committed to helping young people in the Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC, metropolitan area become successful in school, work, and the community.

For more than six years, with caring adult volunteers and employers, the Capital Area REACH Program has offered young people positive developmental experiences to teach them the skills they need to overcome life challenges and achieve positive outcomes. REACH strives to help young people in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, area become successful in school, work, and the community.

Our partners include local employers, businesses, community volunteers and faith-based organizations. REACH has recently partnered with Destination ImagiNation, the world’s leading organization offering real-world experience in creativity, problem solving, and teamwork, to develop a job training curriculum that will teach students how to succeed in work and the community.

Goals

The REACH Program helps young people:

• Mature personally and gain life skills;

• Increase job-related competencies through instruction, activities, and work experiences;

• Learn more about potential careers; and

• Develop commitment to their communities.

To accomplish these goals throughout the year, the REACH Program provides youth with substantive opportunities to:

• Develop personal relationships with caring adults;

• Contribute to the community through service;

• Work and succeed on the job; and

• Grow personally, emotionally, and academically.
